Screen on the Green

It's summer time in DC and that means they will begin the summer series of Screen on the Green, the screen being a big movie projection screen and the green being the National Mall's grassy lawn, specifically the block between the Washington Monument and the Capitol.  So, grab your blanket and picnic basket, packed full of wine and cheese and fruit and crackers, or whatever your tummy desires.

The series runs on Monday nights during the months of July and August, and tonight is the first night for the 2012 season. The screenings are usually older classics, like Casablanca, Cool Hand Luke, Gone with the Wind, and Psycho. Tonight's feature: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  And the best part about the series is that it's free!  Hard to get that out of the movies these days... Screening starts at sun down, or ~8:30pm.
